LowAdhere-Cytocaf is a recombinant protein polymer that forms a biologically inert, non-adhesive coating on plastic and glass surfaces. When applied to culture wells, LowAdhere-Cytocaf prevents adherent mammalian cells from attaching to the surface, instead encouraging cell–cell interactions that promote the formation of uniform 3D structures, including spheroids and organoids.
LowAdhere-Cytocaf is compatible with a wide range of cell types and well formats, allowing selective coating of only the wells you need. This flexibility enables more efficient use of resources while maintaining high reproducibility. Cultures grown on LowAdhere-Cytocaf-coated wells exhibit improved structural properties—such as greater uniformity, circularity, and viability - without detectable background adhesion to the substrate.
Whether you're working in drug screening, tissue engineering, or advanced cell modelling, LowAdhere-Cytocaf offers a reliable and scalable solution for high-quality 3D cell culture.
- Recombinant protein polymer for non-adhesive cell culture
- Promotes uniform spheroid and organoid formation
- Supports a range of adherent mammalian cell types
- No background cell attachment to plastic or glass
- Compatible with multiple plate formats
- Reproducible results across experiments

LowAdhere-Cytocaf coated plates support the formation and growth of spheroids.
A

(A) HCT116 cells were seeded at a density of 1x104 cells/well into wells of an 96-well plate, then observed over 5 days using brightfield microscopy, where spheroid formation could be seen.
(B, C) HCT116 spheroids formed on LowAdhere-Cytocaf coated wells for 7 days imaged using an Incucyte™ S7. Prior to imaging, spheroids were left unstained (B) or stained with Live (green)/Dead (red) cell stain for 15 mins prior to visualisation in the presence (C) or absence (D) of lysis buffer.

Figure 2: HEK293 spheroids
LowAdhere-Cytocaf coated plates demonstrate increased viability of HEK293 spheroids compared to commercial low attachment plates.

HEK293 cells were seeded at a density of 5x104 cells/well into wells of a 6-well plate that had either been left uncoated (A) or coated with LowAdhere-Cytocaf (B). A similar experiment was seeded on a commercially available low attachment plate (C). Cells were grown for 5 days then imaged using an EVOS light microscope. (D) A presto blue cell viability assay was performed on day 5 to measure the number of viable cells attached versus in suspension.
